"I call this the 'group of death' to tell you the truth. All groups are difficult, but here there are very big teams. Chris Duarte of Sacramento Kings, who during the win was one of the best scorers of the day against Egypt, spoke after the last game, saying the following.
"Of course (we want to face Greece). We'll see when we're out there, we'll be five against five, as coach (Nestor "Che" Garcia) always tells us. When we are out there, no matter who it is, we are going to go against you. We're going to play hard, we're going to compete, we're going to give our best and live with the result. We're going to be ready, of course," said Duarte during the post-match press conference.
Format
The teams in each group will play each other in a round-robin format. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the Final Phase. The first place team will go on to play the second place team from the other group in the semifinals and so on until the winner of each Pre-Olympic is determined.

The Pre-Olympics includes the top-ranked eligible teams from Africa, the Americas, Asia and Oceania in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023. Those three nations are joined by the top 16 finishers from the eligible teams in the FIBA 2023 World Cup, as well as the five winners of the FIBA Olympic Pre-qualifying Tournaments.
Africa: Angola, Cameroon, Ivory Coast and Egypt.
Americas: Bahamas, Brazil, Dominican Republic, Mexico and Puerto Rico
Asia-Oceania: Bahrain, Lebanon, New Zealand and Philippines.
