While Boomer Esiason believes the Yankees will be world champions, he says his prediction will wind up being wrong if the Bombers continue one critical flaw that has been front and center so far this postseason.
“You better be smart running the bases,” Boomer said. “Don’t be giving up outs in the World Series. You gotta be smart on the basepaths. You gotta be really careful.
“You cannot do what you did against the Guardians.”
The Yanks ran into all kind of trouble on the bases in the ALCS, AS Gleyber Torres was thrown out at home in game five with nobody out on a Juan Soto double, in what was a bad send by Luis Rojas. There have been multiple pickoffs as well, a continuation of poor baserunning decisions that have been an issue all year.
But Boomer still believes it will be the Yanks coming out on top of a thrilling series, which is why he doesn’t understand why so many Yankee fans called into Friday’s show criticizing him for his Yankee takes.
“I think it’s gonna go at least six. I think it’s going seven,” Boomer said. “I want it to be a magical run for everyone involved.
“I’m the only one here who thinks the Yankees can win, and I’m the one getting the slings and arrows.”
