Earlier this year, Germany played their qualifying in Brazil, and it was a 73-71 victory that allowed them into the Olympics. Satou Sabally did have a strong game in that one putting up 20 points and 11 rebounds. In the last game before the Olympics, Germany faced off against the United States national team, in the last leadup before the Olympics and it was an ugly game. Germany scored only 57 points while the defense gave up 84 points, and that led to the blowout defeat. They fell behind 22-9 and they couldn’t bounce back.

Belgium is going to be without one of it’s best players for the Olympics, and some other players are going to need to step up. Julie Allemand is playing for the Los Angeles Sparks in the WNBA but she is dealing with an injury and is missing the Olympics. She has missed the entire season for the Sparks because of the injury. The other WNBA player on the Belgium roster is Julie Vanloo who is a Washington Mystics guard.
