BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Burlington officials are gearing up for the Vermont City Marathon on Sunday and the street closures accompanying it.
Thousand of racers and spectators will descend on the Queen City this weekend for the 35th running of the marathon. Race officials say over 4,600 racers are registered for the various events that make up the largest sporting event in the state.
This year’s race is a two-loop 13.1-mile course that includes the Church Street Marketplace and Burlington Bike Path. The start and finish lines are located at Waterfront Park on Lake Street.

Several streets in Burlington will either be closed entirely or have traffic restrictions to ensure the safety of the 4,500 runners and race officials.
The hand-cyclist racers start at 7:15 a.m. with runners starting immediately after. The top runners are expected across the finish line around 9:30 a.m.
