In this $16,000 starter allowance at 1 3/8 miles on the turf, many of the horses have never run this far which makes handicapping this race a challenge. #8 Morocco (4-1) had some early trouble in last but still managed to make a nice move in the stretch. He is a big, long-striding gelding that takes some time to get started, but looks like he wants the extra distance. We have him on top today. #3 Be Yourself (5-1) flattened out in the stretch in last, but he may have needed that race. We think his running style suits this distance and believe he will be a contender today. #9 Mokheef (3-1) is a turf closer who may get up for a piece of the action. He has been successful at this distance before. #1A Irish Riviera (5-1) won here a couple weeks ago. He could be dangerous if he can get the distance.
Race #6 Picks: 6-1-4-3
The first stakes race at Delaware Park this year is the $150,000 Obeah Stakes for fillies and mares at 1 1/16 miles. The Obeah typically is a springboard for some runners to the Grade 2 Delaware Handicap coming up in July. #6 Battle Bling (3-2) seldom runs a bad race and was not outclassed in a Grade 1 stakes race at Churchill last out. If she repeats any of her last handful of races, it should be good enough to win today. We are looking at #1 Flight to Shanghai (5-1) as a lone speed play. She was able to go gate to wire in her only race here at Delaware last year and she will try to do it again. Her competition is tougher than it was last year, but we respect lone speed at all times. #4 Miss Leslie (8-5) has competed well against several others in here recently. She will be pressing the pace and looking to pounce in the stretch. She came within a neck of Battle Bling at Aqueduct in January. #3 Hybrid Eclipse (8-1) is under the care of hot trainer Brittany Russell. This filly has competed well against this group in the past and will be competitive again today.
Race #7 Picks: 11-7-4-13
Race #8 Picks: 3-6-2-1
