Peru reached its sixth medal in the Lima 2019 Pan American Games, thanks to Luis Bardalez, who excelled in weightlifting in the 67 kg category and won the bronze medal at the Mariscal Cáceres Coliseum.

Luis Bardalez brought more joy to the Peruvians, lifting a total of 291 kg. In the snatch, the national representative lifted 127 kg, while in the clean and jerk he completed a weight of 164 kg.
Luis Bardalez stepped onto the podium and placed behind Mexican Jonathan Muñoz (306 kg), who won the gold medal, and Guatemalan Edgar Pineda (297 kg), who won the silver medal.
This Saturday, Gladys Tejeda and Christian Pacheco gave Peru its first gold medals after winning the women's and men's marathon, respectively. Diego Elías extended the number to three, after winning the squash final.
Hugo del Castillo (taekwondo- Poomsae) and Marcela Castillo (taekwondo- Poomsae) won silver medals at Lima 2019.
