The Pittsburgh Steelers have parted ways with one of their all-time greats.
Linebacker James Harrison, the franchise's career sack leader, was released by the team on Saturday.
In a corresponding move, the Steelers activated offensive starting Marcus Gilbert, who missed the previous four games while serving a suspension for violating the league's policy on performance enhancing substances.

Harrison has 80 1/2 sacks in 15 years, 14 of which have been spent in Pittsburgh. He has played in just five games and logged three tackles this season, however, as rookie T.J. Watt took over a starting role.
A five-time Pro Bowl selection and the 2008 defensive player of the year, Harrison began with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent out of Kent State in 2002. He did not become a full-time starter until he was 29, but he recorded 54 sacks in his first five seasons in the role.
Harrison's 100-yard return of a Kurt Warner interception in Super Bowl XLII was one of the defining moments of Pittsburgh's win over the Arizona Cardinals and remains one of the most iconic moments in the game's history.
Harrison briefly retired after spending the 2013 season with the rival Cincinnati Bengals but returned to the Steelers in September 2014.
