El Mechón will be back
Sergio Romo, pitcher who participated with Charros in the last season of the Mexican Pacific League, hopes to return soon to Guadalajara to wear the Mexican baseball team uniform in the World Classic that the city will host in 30 days.
Romo, who is about to join Los Angeles Dodgers for one year - pending medical exams approval - knows that the fans from Jalisco will welcome him with open arms, just as it happened during his stay with Jalisco in the 2016-207 MPL.
"I want to say thank you very much to everyone in Jalisco, in Guadalajara, for the support they have given me, they always supported us and now with the Mexican uniform in the Classic, I'm coming for you."
"With a lot of pride, with a big smile as always, and with open arms, because without you we are not much, I tell you: that's where we'll see each other."
The closer, who was also on the roster of the 2017 Caribbean Series with the Mexican team Águilas de Mexicali as reinforcement, thanked Charros de Jalisco for giving him the opportunity to participate in the season that led to his selection by Cañerlos de Los Mochis in the first postseason draft, where he became the runner-up, and subsequently chosen to represent Mexico with Águilas de Mexicali in the Caribbean Series in Culiacán that ends today and where he only pitched in one game before leaving for Los Angeles.
"We are representing the Charros team, I'm a reinforcement, I belong to Jalisco, it makes me proud to wear this Mexican uniform again, I'm not only representing Sergio Romo and my family, but all the Mexican people."
"I haven't earned all the support they have given me in other places, so thank you very much to all the fans."
Star reliever for the San Francisco Giants, with whom he won the World Series three times, in 2010, 2012 and 2014, Romo has spent his entire eight-year career in the Major Leagues with the Bay Area team.
In 2016, the Mexican-American finished with a record of 1-0 and four saves, with an earned run average of 2.64 in 40 games with the Giants, for a total of 33 strikeouts.
During his eight seasons with the San Francisco Giants, the Mexican reliever has a lifetime record of 32-26 and 84 saves.
Next to turn 34 years old, the Mexican closer, who was a free agent, will be a key part of the closing corps of the Angelino team, looking ahead to the next season of the "Big Leagues".
