Places in New York City to Enjoy the July 4 Fireworks Shows

Below, we present the main locations where you can experience the celebration, with official information on locations and access so you can choose the best option. Keep in mind that at all locations, the fireworks will begin around 9:25 pm (ET) and will last approximately 27 minutes.

  • Macy’s Fireworks

The traditional Macy’s fireworks display will once again be the main attraction of the Fourth of July celebrations in New York City. The 2026 edition will be especially significant as it commemorates the 50th anniversary of the event and coincides with the 250th anniversary of the United States’ independence. According to organizers, the program will include a large-scale pyrotechnic display, a laser light show over the Brooklyn Bridge, and performances by renowned artists.

  • The Seaport

The Seaport district is establishing itself as one of the most popular spots to watch the fireworks from Lower Manhattan. Although access to the designated viewing areas requires the purchase of tickets, attendees can enjoy a prime location overlooking the East River, surrounded by historic buildings, cobblestone streets, and direct views of the Brooklyn Bridge.

  • Free Viewing Areas on FDR Drive

Those who wish to watch the show free of charge can access the viewing areas that the city will set up along FDR Drive. These locations typically offer some of the best views of the event in Manhattan. Entry points and official access will be announced by city officials as the date of the celebration approaches.

  • Pier 16, at the South Street Seaport Museum

The South Street Seaport Museum will host a special experience from Pier 16, where visitors can purchase tickets to watch the fireworks from the pier. In addition to a prime view, the event will feature food and beverage options, and different ticket categories will offer locations with varying perspectives of the show.

  • Sail aboard the historic schooner Pioneer

For those seeking a more exclusive experience, the museum will also offer a tour aboard the Pioneer, a schooner built in 1885. Seating will be limited, allowing a small group of passengers to watch the fireworks from the water while enjoying drinks and snacks during the voyage.

  • Brooklyn Heights Promenade

The Brooklyn Heights Promenade is among the most popular spots to enjoy the show thanks to its panoramic view of Lower Manhattan, the Brooklyn Bridge, and the East River. Although it’s farther from the barges launching the fireworks, it offers one of the most complete views of the New York City skyline.

  • DUMBO

The DUMBO neighborhood is another recommended option for those who want to combine the show with some of the city’s most iconic views. The area around Pebble Beach and the northern end of Brooklyn Bridge Park offer a great vantage point to watch the fireworks with the Brooklyn Bridge as a backdrop.

  • Exchange Place, Jersey City

On the other side of the Hudson River, Exchange Place in Jersey City will also celebrate Independence Day with a free festival running throughout the day. As night falls, the place transforms into an excellent viewpoint overlooking Lower Manhattan, making it a good alternative for those who prefer to avoid the large crowds in New York City.

  • Liberty State Park

Located in New Jersey, Liberty State Park offers wide open spaces and a prime view of the Manhattan skyline and the Statue of Liberty. Thanks to its Hudson River promenade, the park has become one of the most popular free spots to watch the Fourth of July fireworks from a unique perspective.
