Gael Sandoval ready to take on Toluca

Gael Sandoval has had a tournament of contrasts and that is why he considers this last match against Toluca as a rematch that marks the beginning of a resurgence for Santos Laguna.

"As far as getting closer, it would be to (Agustín) Marchesín, to talk according to the position it would be with Djaniny (Tavares), I feel more connected with him and he gives me certain advice".

He returned from Bravos de Juarez from the Ascenso MX to make his debut in the top flight and last Sunday the homegrown player scored his first goal in the Liga MX, which allowed the Santos team to pave the way for victory against Jaguares and thus add 3 fundamental points, aware of the obligation to recover lost ground.

The Guadalajara native reiterated the commitment they have to the fans, the team, and themselves as players, which is why he sees the match against Diablos Rojos as an opportunity for a turning point.

"We are aware that we had a terrible tournament, but we are thinking about the next match, looking for the 3 points, finishing well, in the best way, with confidence to have a good preseason and have a better tournament," said the footballer.

"Many times we can easily blame the coach or the players, we have all had a bad tournament, all teams have gone through that, there are details that need to be fine-tuned but that count a lot, there is no one to blame, many things came together and that caused us to have a bad championship," he explained.

Regardless of the above, the 21-year-old midfielder assured that the group is thinking about an immediate rematch because the team needs it, and during this FIFA date, they will focus on achieving those 3 points.

"These are things that one learns, this tournament didn't work out, we are aware of that, we all want a rematch, we have to have a good preseason, have a good tournament, and clean this up," he said.

He also shared the support that the albiverde team has given him in his first season in the top category, and mentioned some players with whom he has more contact:

"We are aware that we had a terrible tournament, but we are thinking about the next match, looking for the 3 points, finishing well, in the best way."

"As for getting closer, it would be to (Agustín) Marchesín, to talk according to the position it would be with Djaniny (Tavares), with him I feel more connected and he gives me certain advice."

Regarding the importance of the friendly match against Monterrey, he said: "To have more confidence in the team, it is a match in which we can fine-tune many details, both collectively and personally, if the opportunity arises for the coach to see that we want to continue supporting the team and being there is also important."

Gael, like the rest of his teammates, is working at the Territorio Santos Modelo facilities focused on the friendly match next Saturday against Monterrey, to be played at 11:00 am at the BBVA Bancomer Stadium. He will train on Thursday at 9:30 am.
