FIFA to fine the Spanish Football Federation for violating rules on signing underage foreign players
The FIFA will once again fine the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) for violating rules on signing underage foreign players, the international organization announced on Tuesday.
The federation has "violated several provisions" related to minors signed by Atlético de Madrid and Real Madrid, clubs that were banned from signing players during two transfer windows this year.
The governing body of world football has imposed a fine of 220,000 Swiss francs ($221,000) on the RFEF and has granted them "a six-month period to modify their regulatory framework and the current system of transferring minors in the country."
The FIFA also issued "a warning and a reprimand" to the Spanish federation.
The organization had previously fined the Spanish federation for similar reasons when Barcelona signed underage foreign players a few years ago.
