The Colombian team hopes to overcome their current poor performance in the local tournament and has been working specifically with their attacking players to improve their aim and get out of the results crisis.
Coach Giovanni Hernandez has justified Junior's situation by stating that in the three tournaments his team participates in (Sudamericana, Colombian League, and Colombian Cup), they have rotated players and have been affected by "injuries and muscle fatigue," as he told local media.
Hernandez added, "The players have given their maximum effort and always go out with the intention of adding points."
In the local league, Junior is currently in fifteenth place with 15 points, with three wins, six draws, and three defeats, but they have three postponed matches.
For Wednesday's match, the Barranquilla team will not be able to count on defender Alexis Pérez due to physical discomfort, nor midfielder Sebastián Hernández due to accumulated yellow cards.
Montevideo Wanderers arrived in Barranquilla on Monday and immediately inspected the field at the Metropolitan Stadium. Gastón Bueno did not travel with Gastón Machado's team due to injury, nor did Ignacio González due to suspension.
In the Uruguayan tournament, Wanderers is currently in sixth place with eight points.
