One of the most hostile stadiums in Central America intimidates everyone who sets foot in it
The Cuscatlán Stadium, a venue that generates a tense atmosphere for those who have to pass through its facilities.
Every time the Mexican national team goes to the home of the 'selecta', they suffer. It doesn't matter the football level in which both teams are, El Salvador takes advantage of their stadium and the enthusiasm of their people plays a fundamental role in the course of the match.
The audacity of the local fans intimidates the visitors, but this time it seems that the hostility will be put aside, due to the lack of response from the stands towards their national team, since only a small portion of the tickets has been sold a few hours before the qualifying match for Russia 2018. This situation is surprising, as local fans usually sell out the tickets, mainly against Mexico.
Lack of confidence in El Salvador to defeat Mexico is the main cause of the poor response from the public; however, a large number of followers from their faithful supporters group, known as 'Vietnam', is expected to be present. They are famous for performing certain acts while supporting their 'selecta'.
We remember some of the episodes protagonized by members of the group, who have even disrespected their own jersey.
The visit to the Cuscatlán
Mexico will visit the Cuscatlán this Friday in a qualifying match for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, where the team led by Juan Carlos Osorio aims to maintain their privileged position for the Hexagonal phase.
Meanwhile, El Salvador is currently last in Mexico's group, but a victory would give them a glimmer of hope to aspire to a distant place in the final round of the CONCACAF qualifying phase.
