Auburn High School’s Alex Gamston batted a pass and intercepted it with less than two minutes to go, helping the Tigers hold on for a 28-21 victory over rival Opelika at Duck Samford Stadium on Friday night.
Auburn’s Omar Mabson ran 22 times for 176 yards and scored two touchdowns, and Josh Askew caught seven passes for 147 yards and a touchdown for the Tigers (3-0 overall, 1-0 in Class 7A, Region 2). Quarterback Jackson Kilgore finished 19-of-28 passing for 268 yards and one touchdown.
