The plan of Alejandro Domínguez
A few weeks ago, the Paraguayan media 'ABC Color' revealed the contract that obliged Conmebol to pay nearly $40 million to DATISA for the Copa Centenario. According to information from the same portal, today this was confirmed.
And reliable sources have indicated to the media that the South American entity has already paid this amount to DATISA (a company formed by Traffic, TyC, and Full Play). At the same time, Wilmar Valdez (former head of the CSF) and President of the Uruguayan Football Association confirmed that this media will also continue with the rights of the Copa America 2019 and 2023. All this despite the fact that the company is accused by the FBI and the United States Attorney's Office of money laundering, organized crime, and bribes that exceeded $100 million. It is, as is known, the company with which the FIFA Gate scandal was exposed in 2015.
Previously, the Paraguayan media published a document where supposedly the former president of the Confederation, Juan Ángel Napout, made it seem that relations with DATISA were broken. Everything would suggest that it was a farce and the agreement between this entity and Conmebol would continue.
One of the most serious information regarding the case involves the current president of Conmebol, Alejandro Domínguez. According to 'ABC Color', close sources reported that he would seek to legalize the payment to DATISA at the Executive Committee meeting scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, in Medellin, the location where the final of the Copa Sudamericana will be played.
The seriousness of this is that they want to obtain the approval of the payment to this company accused by the FBI, from the 10 presidents of associations and federations that belong to Conmebol. Tomorrow Alejandro Domínguez will be in Medellin and could clarify whether the information given by the Paraguayan media is true or not.
