The former president of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Luis Rubiales, announced that he will not give up and will continue until reaching the last instance, regarding FIFA's decision to suspend him for three years for forcing a kiss on player Jenni Hermoso.
Through his X account, previously Twitter, he ensured that he will appeal the decision until "justice is done and the truth shines", he said. "Despite the efforts of some politicians, media, and institutions, the disproportion and injustice committed are becoming increasingly clear," he added.
The FIFA made the decision to disqualify him from "any football-related activity for three years, both nationally and internationally", due to the high-profile case involving footballer Jenni Hermoso. The entity considers that the former official's behavior "has violated Article 13 of the Disciplinary Code," which regulates "offensive conduct and violations of fair play principles".
QUESTIONS THE PROCESS
Luis Rubiales pointed out that the process has not been conducted fairly, stating that after the opening of the file against him, the ten-day period to present his arguments has not been respected. "Only two days after granting me a 10-day period, I was notified of the precautionary suspension from my position as president of the RFEF, without being heard," he said.
He added that he did not have a complete hearing to defend himself, and he was disqualified. "It is obvious that the political and media lynching I have received has generated a wave in which certain institutions have wanted to act in a certain way, beyond preserving the presumption of innocence or giving all parties the same opportunities for a fair and proportionate process," he criticized.
The former president of the RFEF generated international controversy by kissing forward Jenni Hermoso on the mouth during the medal ceremony after Spain was crowned as the best women's football team in the world. This behavior was not the only thing criticized by thousands of people around the world, as he also made obscene gestures from the stadium box by touching his genitals.
