One of the standout players for Alianza Lima was Hernán Barcos, who scored a brace for the victory. Another player who started the game was defender Ricardo Lagos, who had a great performance on the wings to stop the opponent's attacks. After the final whistle, he spoke in a press conference and admitted the mistakes they made during the first half.
"The coach is right to say that we were unfocused in the first half, but we knew we had to win. We had to improve our game and we achieved our goal. The match was difficult, but we never lost sight that we had to win. We have to get three points in these last games and fortunately, we had the necessary calmness to stay calm and we trusted that we could score," said Lagos to the Golperú cameras.
Furthermore, Lagos assured that with great effort, Alianza Lima managed to turn the match around, so they can return to Lima with three points in their pocket. "We knew that coming to Trujillo was a very tough challenge. We were one goal down, but we showed a lot of quality to turn the result around," he commented.
When will Alianza Lima play again?
The team led by Mauricio Larriera will play their next match against Melgar on matchday 16 of the Clausura Tournament, on Thursday, September 28, at 20:30 local time, at the Alejandro Villanueva stadium.
