- Asian Football Confederation (AFC): 8 direct spots - 1 spot for the playoffs
- African Football Confederation (CAF): 9 direct spots - 1 spot for the playoffs
- Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF): 6 direct spots - 2 spots for the playoffs
- South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL): 6 direct spots - 1 spot for the playoffs
- Oceania Football Confederation (OFC): 1 direct spot - 1 spot for the playoffs
- Union of European Football Associations (UEFA): 16 direct spots - 0 spots for the playoffs
How is the playoff for the 2026 World Cup determined?
A tournament will be played in the United States in 2025, which will grant two spots for the Mexico, United States, and Canada World Cup through this new system.
The six teams will be paired based on their position in the FIFA Ranking of that year, with the top two teams from the tournament qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.
