Bad news for Kei Nishikori ahead of the US Open. The 33-year-old Japanese player will not be present at the last Grand Slam tournament of the season after returning to the circuit in June.
The Shimane native had suffered a knee injury that prevented him from participating in the ATP 500 in Washington at the beginning of August and ultimately ruled him out of the New York major. Prior to that, he had returned to professional play after 18 months of inactivity (two Challengers and one ATP) due to a hip injury that required arthroscopic surgery.
