Peñarol secured the continuity of defender Yonatthan Rak on loan until the end of the year, after reaching an agreement with Xolos de Tijuana, the club that owns the player's contract.
According to sources from the "mirasol" club to ESPN, the renewal of the contract was done free of charge for the club, understanding that it was the best for all parties as the defender would not be taken into account in the Mexican team.
Since arriving at Peñarol, Rak has played a total of 37 matches, scoring two goals, providing three assists, and alternating between starting and substitute roles between 2022 and 2023.
In the first semester of the year, the defender played in 5 out of 7 matches in the Copa CONMEBOL Sudamericana, in 10 out of 15 matches in the Torneo Apertura, and in 6 out of 7 matches in the Torneo Intermedio.
With the continuity of Yonatthan Rak, Darío Rodríguez ensures a new defender in a position where he already has Hernán Menosse, Leo Coelho, Maximiliano Olivera, and youth player Nahuel Herrera.
