- Paolo Guerrero: "I was looking to play for Alianza Lima, but I didn't have an offer"
After the classic, Salas spoke at a press conference and, although he did not refer to any eventual departure and showed confidence in continuing in the position, it was noteworthy that some members of his coaching staff were present in the press room, which is not usual. Likewise, at the end of the conference, Salas said goodbye to his entire coaching staff gathered in the parking lot of the Alejandro Villanueva stadium. Unlike other times, the farewell was collective and longer than usual. However, there was nothing confirmed until then.
The day after, Depor was able to learn that from the sports area of Alianza Lima, the decision had already been made for Guillermo Salas not to continue in the position. A position that they had been evaluating for several days, but had not been carried out because he was supported until the classic. In addition, they have not yet closed the negotiation with the new coach.
Although both Salas and the members of his coaching staff were aware that they might not continue, there was no direct communication from the club throughout Sunday, while it was unofficially known that the coach would not continue, which caused discomfort and annoyance in 'Chicho's' environment.
Finally, this Monday afternoon, José Bellina, sports manager of Alianza Lima, contacted Guillermo Salas and informed him that he will not continue in the position. The decision, moreover, was made jointly with administrator José Sabogal and, in this way, Salas no longer has to be present at the training planned for this Tuesday in EGB Lurín.
On the other hand, Alianza Lima reported that the interim coach will be Nixon Perea, the current coach of the reserve team, who will take over the first team for the match against Universidad César Vallejo this Saturday in Trujillo. Meanwhile, the blanquiazul club continues in the search to close the negotiation with the foreign coach.
Who is Nixon Perea?
Nixon Perea will be in charge of taking the reins of the first team during the training sessions this week and for the match against Universidad César Vallejo. Perea is a former football player and current Colombian coach who had a past in various clubs in his country, winning a national cup in 1994 and a Copa Libertadores in 1995. Starting in 2013, he began in youth football at Atlético Nacional and joined Alianza Lima at the beginning of 2023 to take charge of the reserve team. At the moment, the current sports situation of said team is not the best, considering that they are in 13th place out of 19 in said competition.
