In a recent interview, Lauren Cohan, who plays 'Maggie Green' in the show, explained to Sensacine how her experience working with this corpulent and slimy creature was, very similar to the creature from the urban legend called 'rat king,' which we will be able to see in episode 4 of the series in the sewers of New York.

"Do I think it's the best? Yes, honestly yes. We had a lot of fun with it. It was like you do this for so many years and you think: How can you top it? And our showrunner, Eli Jorne, had this idea of when you're in a city and the rats are in confined spaces, they join their tails and become one being and it's called Rat King.
