Melgar dominates Patronato with a 5-0 victory
What a madness! Melgar overwhelmed Patronato 5-0 in the fifth round of the Copa Libertadores. The goals came from a brace by Bernardo Cuesta, and goals from Cristian Bordacahar, Tomás Martínez, and Jhamir D' Arrigo. With this result, the Arequipans positioned themselves in third place in Group H with 4 points.

Bernardo Cuesta, the forward who scored two goals for Melgar, did not hide his happiness after the international tournament victory. He highlighted the importance of the win due to the urgency they had to achieve a favorable result and secure a spot in the next Copa Sudamericana.
"It's a very beautiful night, we needed to win and get three points to stay alive and advance to the Sudamericana. Those are very valuable points," said the striker after the match. "You never think it can happen in that way, but we were superior. We converted the chances we had. The effectiveness was on our side," he added.
Melgar: pending match against Olimpia
Cuesta knows that the next match against Olimpia as visitors in Paraguay will be tough, but he also doesn't want to neglect the Peruvian league. "We have a tough match ahead, we have to go to Paraguay to face a great team. The moment to prepare for it will come, but for now, we have to focus on the local tournament and keep adding points," he said.
