It will be a whole party! The historic captain of Real Betis, Joaquín Sánchez, will have a dream farewell: this Tuesday, June 6th (at 21:00 Spain time and 13:00 Mexico time), the match will be held at the Benito Villamarín stadium, bringing back national and international footballers to the field.
Joaquín's farewell match will be broadcasted by Spain's Sixth channel, for the fans of the Betis footballer, as well as for the figures he has gathered for this day. For days now, there are no tickets available to attend the stadium and enjoy this commemorative event for the green and white footballer's career.
In this tribute, Joaquín has asked some of his teammates and friends (Rubén Castro, Héctor Bellerín, Alfonso, Denilson, Edu, Juanito, Capi, Doblas, José Alberto Cañas, Arzu and Ricardo Oliveira) to accompany him in this celebration.
Other footballers who will be accompanying him are Iker Casillas, Sergio Ramos, Raúl, Roberto Carlos, Guti, David Albelda, Santi Cazorla, and Albert Luque.
Likewise, there will be Mexican presence: Betis has confirmed on their social media the call-up of the former captain of the national team, Andrés Guardado, who is currently part of the Betis squad and is about to renew his contract for one more season.
The proceeds will go to support the Joaquín Sánchez Foundation, an entity that the athlete himself presides over and that works to raise funds for research on childhood cancer.
