The Peruvian tennis player Juan Pablo Varillas did not give up and managed to turn the game around. He was losing the first two sets against the Chinese Shan Juncheng, but he showed the 'Peruvian spirit' and was able to come back and win the match.

The 27-year-old Peruvian tennis player was losing the first two sets of the match by 4-6 and 2-6; however, he managed to do the impossible and won the next three games with 6-2, 6-3, and 6-1, obtaining his best result in a Grand Slam, in his third participation.

In the first phase, he faced the Chinese whirlwind who is ranked 200th and at 18 years old has become one of the most promising figures in his country. Now, Varillas will seek a spot in the third round against the winner of the match between the Spanish Roberto Bautista and the Chinese Yibing Wu.
