Alianza Lima without the 'Rifle': Andrés Andrade will not play against Libertad.

Due to a knee injury, the Colombian midfielder was ruled out for the match between Alianza Lima and Libertad in the Libertadores. 'Chicho' Salas will have to rearrange his tactics.

Despite the fact that in the last games Guillermo Salas' strategy has made him feel uncomfortable on the field, Andrés Andrade is - without a doubt - the best creative midfielder that Alianza Lima has. That's precisely why 'Chicho' didn't take him to Arequipa for the match against Melgar - where they lost 2-1 -; however, his plans didn't go as expected: after the last Saturday's training, the 'Rifle' suffered a blow to his right knee and was ruled out for the match against Libertad in the 2023 Copa Libertadores (this Tuesday, May 23 at 9:00 p.m. in Matute).

The Colombian midfielder was going to be a starter against 'Gumarelo', something that had already happened in the first leg and had worked for the 'blanquiazules' - he assisted Aldair Rodríguez for the partial 0-1 in Asunción. However, with this last minute information, the plans for Tuesday, May 23rd match will change. Although the 4-2-3-1 would remain as the initial scheme, Salas will have to find the ideal replacement for the 'cafetero'.

Christian Cueva is emerging as the possible substitute for Andrade. Although 'Aladino' has shown very little every time he had to pull the strings of Alianza Lima's game, Salas could decide to support him once again. Another alternative would be Jairo Concha, who started in the last match against Melgar in Liga 1.

It is clear here that the 'Íntimos' lose a lot without the presence of Andrés Andrade, not only because of the ease he has to connect with the forwards, but also because when playing at the Alejandro Villanueva stadium, they are obliged to propose a more proactive game than they had in Paraguay. The obligation for this Tuesday will be to win, and 'Chicho' will have to make his moves to achieve it.

Ángelo Campos, another doubt

The absence of 'Rifle' would not be the only one that Alianza Lima would have for the match against Libertad. Although he has been recovering favorably, it is still not certain that Ángelo Campos will reappear under the three poles against the Paraguayan team. Remember that the 30-year-old goalkeeper has not played since the defeat against Atlético Mineiro (2-0), where he got injured.

If the goalkeeper finally misses another match with the 'blanquiazules', Franco Saravia will continue to be the starter in goal. The 23-year-old player has started in the last five games in Liga 1 and has shown that he is up to the task, so if he plays this Tuesday, he will officially debut in this Copa Libertadores.
