Universitario de Deportes has an important match today, Friday, May 19th, against César Vallejo for the sixteenth round of the Opening Tournament 2023 since here it plays its last chances of winning the first tournament of the year, as long as Alianza Lima does not manage to add three points earlier against FBC Melgar.
The creams will not be able to count on four of their usual starters due to suspension, and faced with this adversity, Jorge Fossati has had to fight to choose the players who could have minutes tonight at the Monumental Stadium.
This morning the club announced the list of 21 players called up by the Uruguayan strategist for the match, with the main novelties being the inclusion of a couple of players who have not seen minutes this season: Roberto Siucho and José Luján.
Both Siucho and Luján have not had the opportunity to be required on the field by Fossati. In the case of the forward, he has already been called up for a match, while the central defender has been called up for the first time. For that reason, they are surprises to play against the 'poets' and could set foot on a football field after a long time.
Of this list, only eleven will have the opportunity to start the game and Jorge Fossati has proposed this possible lineup, using the usual 3-5-2 system.
- Universitario (3-5-2): José Carvallo; Piero Guzmán, Marco Saravia, Matías Di Benedetto, Hugo Ancajima, Alfonso Barco, Horacio Calcaterra, Martín Pérez Guedes, José Bolívar, José Rivera, Alex Valera. DT: Jorge Fossati.
