Ricardo Gareca praises Paolo Guerrero's goal
Former coach of the Peruvian National Football Team, Ricardo Gareca, praised forward Paolo Guerrero, who scored his first goal in his debut with Racing de Avellaneda's jersey in the victory against San Martín Formosa in the 32nd round of the Copa Argentina.
Perseverance and professionalism
In an interview with Movistar Deportes, Gareca highlighted the perseverance and professionalism of Guerrero, who at 39 years old overcame a knee injury to compete again at the top level of football.
"I'm not surprised by anything Paolo (Guerrero) does. Paolo and Farfán. I've seen them fight. I've seen them do the impossible to be there. They are great professionals. If he's at Racing, it's because of his professionalism. To return to play at his age, with everything he has gone through and suffered, is admirable," he said.
More minutes
The Argentine strategist also stated that as Paolo gets more minutes with "La Academia", he will be able to reach his best level and bring a lot of joy to the team coached by Fernando Gago.
"I watched the game. When he scored the goal, it brought immense joy to me. I know what he fought for. He needs playing time. The other day, Gago gave him 20-30 minutes, today as well. I'm sure that he will gradually increase the minutes he needs to be on the field. I see it and it brings me happiness for everything he has fought for. He is a great player, and Racing is a great team. It is crucial for him to score a goal, it helps him gain confidence," he added.
