The Sport Boys club received License A to participate in the Liga 1 Betsson 2023, but almost at the same time, they found out that the License Commission deducted eight points from their accumulated 2022 score, as part of various penalties imposed for non-compliance in July and August of last year.
With this deduction of points, Sport Boys would be located in the penultimate position in the 2022 Liga 1 standings, below Ayacucho FC, a team that was relegated after losing in the revalidation against Union Comercio, after playing home and away matches.
Although the situation is uncertain, what is certain is that Sport Boys has been under exceptional regime since October and has seven days to appeal the imposed sanction.
The resolution for Sport Boys' sanction
These sanctions had already been imposed by the Commission previously and suspended by the Court, after an appeal, because the club was included in the mentioned regime. However, an appeal from Ayacucho FC led the Court to declare both resolutions null and void, so the Commission was requested to reevaluate the corresponding economic and financial obligations for the two months in question.
Thus, on January 26, it was known that the sanctions remained unchanged. Now, Sport Boys, with the same arguments as the first time, will appeal to the Court, hoping that the sanction will not be viable because they are within the Exceptional Regime.
On the other hand, the Professional Football League confirmed the suspension of the second matchday of the Peruvian tournament, so there will be no local football this weekend.
Thus, the national first division tournament will start with the third matchday, next weekend. It all depends on the local authorities providing the respective guarantees.
