The information that was announced last Wednesday by RPP Noticias was confirmed today. The Liga de Fútbol Profesional issued a statement on their social media confirming the suspension of the Peruvian tournament's second matchday.
Although the start of the Liga1 Betsson 2023 was initially scheduled for January 21, the necessary guarantees were not obtained due to the ongoing social protests in different parts of Peru. As a result, the second matchday was also unable to obtain the necessary permissions.
Therefore, the Liga de Fútbol Profesional, the organizing entity of the local championship, stated on social media that "due to the social situation in the country and considering the disposition of the competent authorities, the date for the second matchday of the Liga1 Betsson 2023 will be rescheduled and communicated at a later time."
On the other hand, it was also announced that the schedule for the third matchday remains in place, although it is subject to possible modifications. This means that if the necessary permissions are obtained, the Peruvian tournament will start with the third matchday. Otherwise, it may be postponed.
