Youssouf Sabaly will play in the Qatar World Cup
As planned, right-back Youssouf Sabaly will finally play in the Qatar World Cup. Senegal coach Aliou Cissé has called up the Betis defender for the great football event in 2022, which will start on Sunday, November 20th, with the opening match between host country Qatar and Ecuador.
Sabaly's performance with Betis
Sabaly has been having a more than acceptable season and has earned the starting position in the green-and-white team. In fact, this Thursday at Mestalla, in a very gray match for Betis coached by Manuel Pellegrini, he was one of the most outstanding players. This season, he has played 9 out of 14 La Liga matches and only one out of six Europa League matches.
The defender with a French background
The 29-year-old defender, who signed for Betis in the summer of 2021, was an international player for France in various youth categories (he was born in the French town of Chesnay), but finally decided to defend the colors of his ancestors' country. He has played 24 games for Senegal.
