Ángel Correa, forward for Atlético de Madrid, admitted this Saturday, after the victory against Girona (2-1), that it is a "tough" season for him "due to the few opportunities" he has had. He has only started in two of the eleven official matches so far, even though he has participated in all of them, because he "works" to be in the starting lineup.
"It's a tough season personally for me, due to the few opportunities I have had. El Cholo (Simeone) has bet on other teammates who have done very well at the beginning of the season. I had to keep working and take advantage of the opportunities when it's my turn to do the best for the team," he said in a press conference after scoring the two goals in his team's victory against Girona.

"Not few opportunities because I think I have participated in all the games, but as a footballer, you work to be a starter in as many games as possible. I know it's very difficult here at Atleti, with the quality of players we have up front. It's a healthy competition. It's always a difficult decision for the coach," he added.
Correa considered that it is "complicated, not easy" to accept being a substitute. "As footballers, we prepare ourselves to play as many minutes as possible, we always want to be on the field, but sometimes the coach decides otherwise and we have to accept it. There is no other choice," he added.
Earlier, in statements to 'Movistar', Correa admitted that Girona made his team "suffer until the end" to achieve victory. "We have also done very good things and we know that we have many things to correct. We have few days and a very important match on Wednesday (against Bruges in the Champions League)," said the forward, who scored both goals in the victory, the first one assisted by Antoine Griezmann.
"It was a nice play and a great cross from Antoine. I was able to be there, at the second post, and it ended in a goal, so I'm very happy. Without a doubt, you always have to be prepared to do your best when you get the chance to play and that happened to me today, so I'm happy," the forward continued.
