MADRID, Sep 29 (EUROPA PRESS) -

The UEFA Executive Committee has appointed Luis Medina Cantalejo, President of the Technical Committee of Referees of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, as a new member of the UEFA Arbitration Development Panel for the next four years.

This analysis group is composed of expert former referees who are still active in working on the development of arbitration in the member federations of UEFA. Among its main functions are advising on the education and development of referees in the member federations and unifying criteria regarding the application and interpretation of the Laws of the Game.

Luis Medina Cantalejo made his debut in 1988 in the First Division, completing up to 11 seasons in the top flight. In 2009, he left active refereeing by directing the final of the Copa del Rey and the UEFA. He also refereed up to four matches in the 2006 World Cup, where he also acted as the fourth official in the final.

Since November 2021, he has been in charge of the Technical Committee of Referees of the RFEF, which has recently achieved the professionalization of female referees and assistant referees in the First Division, setting the course for the rest of the European federations.
