The Peruvian National Team brought out their best version and managed to defeat El Salvador 4-1 in their second friendly match. The 'team of everyone' was able to celebrate for the first time with Juan Reynoso as coach and with a revenge from Christian Cueva, who scored again from the penalty spot.
'Aladino' had not taken a penalty with the Peruvian team since that penalty shootout against Paraguay in the 2021 Copa America quarterfinals, where Cueva missed his shot from the twelve yards.
However, the most remembered error from him on the penalty spot was during the 2018 World Cup, where Peru lost by the minimum difference against Denmark in the opening match. However, on the last night he celebrated again and spoke about it with a spicy message.
"We will continue with the confidence we deserve to be able to write this new story well because that's what we want, for the national team to always be on top," he began saying in an interview with Movistar Deportes.
"To gain the necessary confidence, what I want is to give my best to my national team and that's what I've always done. I don't think I should be judged for that," added the skillful midfielder from Al-Fateh.
Finally, it is important to mention that Gianluca Lapadula and Bryan Reyna were the other men who scored in the Peruvian National Team's resounding victory over 'La Selecta'.
When was Christian Cueva's last penalty goal?
Christian Cueva's last penalty goal was on May 28, 2018, in Peru's 4-2 victory against Scotland in a friendly match.
