The Mexican national team holds nothing back ahead of the final FIFA matchday before the 2022 Qatar World Cup. Due to the importance of the event, Gerardo Martino called up a total of 31 players (19 from the Liga MX and 12 from foreign tournaments) to face the friendly matches against Peru and Colombia in the United States.
The two surprises in Martino's squad are the return of Rogelio Funes Mori and the absence of goalkeeper Carlos Acevedo. The Argentinean striker, who has Mexican nationality, had not been considered by the coach. Meanwhile, the goalkeeper from Santos Laguna, who played against Paraguay, was not taken into consideration by the coach.
Furthermore, Martino maintains his position regarding the case of Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez, who has been requested several times for the 'Tri'. In addition to Funes Mori, the Argentinean coach relies on his top referents: Henry Martín, Hirving Lozano, Raúl Jiménez, and Santiago Giménez, who is already excelling with Feyenoord in the Netherlands.
Undoubtedly, the matches against Peru and Colombia will be crucial for the coach to finalize the final list of the Mexican national team that will compete in the World Cup, a tournament that will take place from November 20 to December 18.
