Bernardo Silva was FC Barcelona's main target in the past summer transfer market. After securing the signings of Raphinha, Jules Koundé, and Robert Lewandowski, the Blaugrana made every effort to take him away from Manchester City. Unfortunately for the Catalan club, the circumstances were not favorable for the Portuguese player and he stayed in the Premier League. This has been confirmed by Paulo Silva, the player's father, who revealed why the negotiations were unsuccessful.
Bernardo Silva's father explained that the scenario for the City midfielder's arrival was not ideal. Additionally, Barcelona's top executives did not send a concrete offer for the Portuguese player on time. As no proposal was received within the established sales deadlines, the Premier League champions closed all doors for his departure.
“There were many conversations, but no concrete offer was made within the times we thought were correct. When it arrived, we realized it was no longer the right time for all parties involved,” said the Manchester City midfielder's father in an interview with 'Stats Perform'.
Things have to happen rationally, and it wasn't the ideal scenario for Bernardo. He is a mature player, he's 28 years old. Things have to be done rationally, not emotionally,” added the player's father.
Despite the disappointment Barcelona experienced with Bernardo Silva, it is not ruled out that they will try again in next summer's transfer market. The Portuguese midfielder is a temptation for the Blaugrana, who with a few departures could adjust their finances to make room for him in the squad.
