Tampico confirmed as host city for International Inclusive Tourism Congress
The Mexican Network of Inclusive Tourism (Redmext) confirmed that Tampico will be the host city for its Fifth International Congress scheduled for September. The congress will bring together experts in the field from South America and Spain, with an estimated presence of two hundred participants over a couple of days.
José Grimaldo Colmenero, director of the Guanajuato Institute for People with Disabilities and president of the mentioned network, detailed part of the program to be carried out, such as the participation of experts from Argentina, Peru, Chile, and Spain, expecting to have an initial attendance of around 200 attendees. The activity is endorsed by international organizations such as the Ibero-American Network of Accessible Tourism (Rituracces).
As part of the program, there will be keynote speeches such as "Economic Reactivation of Inclusive Tourism in the World," "Tourism in Tamaulipas," and "I Also Travel." The work panels "Attention Protocols for People with Disabilities," "ICTs at the Service of Inclusive Tourism," and "Tourist Audio Description" will also be highlighted.
Sensitize the sector
The above was announced at a press conference by Grimaldo Colmenero and the Secretary of Tourism in the state, Fernando Olivera Rocha, within the IBTM Americas 2022, which is taking place on this occasion in Yucatan. This congress is scheduled for September 13th to 14th.
"We must promote inclusion and what is important for tourism to have that equity and well-being for everyone, sensitizing service providers and tourists themselves in this matter. Let us understand that today, the industry can only be seen as sustainable, supportive, and inclusive," said the state official.
With this, more conventions are being integrated for the southern zone of the state, such as in Tamaulipas for the end of this year, in addition to other business tourism events being sought to be organized in 2023.
