The Mexican Government recently announced that, in order to prevent school dropout in the country, the amount of money granted in the Mi Beca Para Empezar program will be increased. This program was created to support elementary and secondary school students.
When will I be able to collect and how much money will I receive from Mi Beca para Empezar?
Claudia Sheinbaum, the head of government of Mexico City, announced via Twitter that the monthly amount of money given to preschool, elementary, and secondary school students will be increased starting from the 2022-2023 school year.

"It is an important effort that we are making. We want the inflation that is being seen to be reflected in real terms and not only nominal terms," said the official, who also revealed the new amounts that Mexican minors will receive.
Regarding the amount of money that parents of children in basic education will receive, the following has been determined: preschool students will receive $500, elementary and secondary students will receive $550, and Multiple Attention Centers (CAM) will receive $600.
The support for Uniforms and School Supplies will also be increased: preschool will receive $870, elementary school will receive $1,000, and secondary school and CAM will receive $1,050.
What are the requirements and necessary documents to receive Mi Beca para Empezar?
The money that parents will receive as a subsidy from this special "bonus" will be delivered during the first ten business days of each month in the school year. In order to access this money, you must meet a series of requirements, which we detail below:
Be enrolled in a public school in Mexico City at the preschool, elementary, secondary, or Multiple Attention Centers levels.
Register through the "Obtén Más/Mi Beca para Empezar" application, which you can download starting from August 14. You must have the following information on hand:
- Cell phone.
- Email address.
- Tutor's and student's CURP.
- Tutor's official identification.
- Proof of address.
- Evidence of previous school year studies.
- Proof and/or Certificate of Enrollment for the 2022-2023 school year.
- Full name and phone number of a contact person.
- Confirmation that the enrollment information will be validated by the Federal Educational Authority of Mexico City.
