Dutch press reports this Wednesday that the top management of the Dutch club will not allow fans to request jerseys from the players as not all requests can be fulfilled.

In recent months, and especially after the return of the public to the stadiums after months of absence due to the pandemic, it has become very common to see fans in the stands asking for players' shirts with signs in hand. This happens all over the world, but in the Netherlands they have decided to put a stop to this already common practice. It is about Ajax, which according to the Dutch press, has prohibited its followers from requesting the players' jerseys at least when they play at home in the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam.

The Ajax Life fan magazine stated that the club told them that there had been an increasing number of signs of this type at the matches at the Johan Cruyff, mostly held by children. The idea of the management is to prevent this type of request from the start of the 2022-23 season.

According to the aforementioned source, the requests for shirts have reached such a high number that the Ajax players can no longer keep up. So, the players who pass by without giving a shirt have been criticized and called arrogant. For the management, it harms the club's image.

In the same line, the Ajax high command estimates that the cardboard signs pose a danger to the safety of the Amsterdam stadium. In the excitement of the fans, they could cause a fire if they catch fire, which is why their use will no longer be allowed.

It has also been reported that many children were prevented from bringing such signs to the stadium on Sunday in the Super Cup match between Ajax and PSV Eindhoven. At least in the Netherlands, the practice of asking for gifts through signs would begin to be prohibited.

Regarding strictly football matters, it is worth remembering that Ajax will make its debut in the Eredivisie 2022-23 this Saturday, August 6, against Fortuna Sittard at the Wagner & Partners Stadion in Limburg. The match will be broadcasted in Latin America through the STAR+ channel.
