Peruvian national team: Former champion coach with Alianza is rumored as Obitas' replacement [VIDEO]

The uncertainty continues within the Peruvian national team, not only because the name of the next coach has not been defined yet, but also because, with the departure of Juan Carlos Oblitas, the position of sports director is also vacant.

Sports journalist Erick Osores stated that one of the options being considered by the Peruvian Football Federation for the sports director position is Uruguayan Gerardo Pelusso.

"Another name that was mentioned to me, not for coach, but for the position of sports director at the FPF, is Gerardo Pelusso; and you know, it seems to me that it could have a connection, because he is from Conmebol and Agustín Lozano is part of Conmebol," he said on the web program 'Erick y Gonzalo'.

"The players of Alianza Lima loved him. That's the case with Ciurlizza, Jayo, among others," added his panel partner Gonzalo Núñez, recalling that Pelusso was champion with Alianza Lima in 2006.

Pelusso is 68 years old and recently retired from coaching. In his career as a coach, he was a national champion in Uruguay (with Danubio in 2004 and Nacional in 2009), in Peru (with Alianza Lima in 2006), and in Paraguay (with Olimpia in 2011). In addition, he was the champion of the Copa Sudamericana in 2015 with Independiente de Santa Fe.

Furthermore, during 2012 and 2013, the Uruguayan coach was the coach of the Paraguayan national team.
