Mario Cupelli, Ricardo Gareca's lawyer, revealed that, on the side of the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF), there were modifications in the contracts to achieve the renewal.

Lawyer of Ricardo Gareca, Mario Cupelli, gave some details about how the meeting between the members of the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) and the coach's representation took place. "There was a meeting on the 12th that was scheduled in advance. People assigned by President Lozano, Milton Gareca and myself attended," began the attorney.

Next, Cupelli went deeper. "It is not an economic issue, there were contractual modifications to previous contracts that were being repeated, modification or elimination of some clauses. So, this accumulation did not provide the conditions to continue with the contract," he added at the press conference.

Later, Gareca's lawyer referred to the version that circulated regarding a 40% reduction in the salary of the former coach of the national team. "This lack of confidentiality and the 40% reduction were evidenced prior to that meeting because a certain sector of the press had already mentioned the 40% reduction. One could investigate if that confidentiality was violated, but at the request of the coaching staff, we will not do it," he said.

To conclude, Cupelli reiterated the reason why the parties involved could not reach a new agreement to renew the strategist's contract with the Peruvian national team. "An agreement was not reached because the contractual conditions that were intended to be modified were not met, and for that reason, an agreement was not reached," he concluded.

Gracias totales: Ricardo Gareca's message

"I want to extend a special thanks to Juan Carlos Oblitas, from the very beginning. He is an invaluable person in our management, in everything that had to do with this period. I always felt his support. We have grown a lot alongside him. To Edwin Oviedo, who was the one who listened to Juan Carlos and, with that, we felt protected, we truly felt his support at all times. And we felt valued in every aspect. We felt valued in these eight years. I can say it, even though he is not physically present at the FPF, we always had frequent contact with him in good times and bad times. Many thanks to Edwin for all the support we have received and for believing in us and listening to Juan Carlos," he said.

"I want to thank my entire coaching staff very specially, everyone. First, the three of us came. and then, we gradually formed the team. It has been an exceptional coaching staff. Without them, we would not have been here for this long, because it was a constant consultation. Imagine that being at the forefront of the country is an enormous responsibility. For us, who had our first experience with a national team, the support of our coaching staff was essential," he stated.

"To the players. The order, beyond what one can give, is given by the football players. From those who had a single call-up to those who were there from the very beginning. They were vital, they were key. I thank them immensely, not only for that, but for the respect they had for us. For their great professionalism and willingness. I am eternally grateful to the Peruvian players. We believed in the Peruvian player and we are even more convinced now that we are leaving. We can turn that phrase into something real, not something fictional. What we said was achieved, with conviction and unwavering faith in the Peruvian player," he added.

"I thank the Peruvian people, the entire nation. From here and abroad. What we achieved is unforgettable," he concluded.
