Juan Pablo Varillas and his journey in the ATP 250 Gstaad
After obtaining his ticket to the main draw of the ATP 250 Swiss Open Gstaad by passing the qualifying stage, Juan Pablo Varillas (115 ATP) made his debut with a victory over Italian Lorenzo Sonego (60 ATP) and advanced to the next round.
In a game that lasted 52 minutes, the Peruvian prevailed 2-0 with scores of 7-6 (5) and 6-2 for the round of 32. Although the first set was characterized by a close game, there were no major inconveniences for Varillas to take the victory in the second set.

In this way, 'Juanpi' is already in the round of 16 of the tournament and will face Spanish Roberto Bautista Agut (19 ATP) on Wednesday, July 20, in Swiss territory.
So far, Varillas has only been able to earn 12 points thanks to his qualification for the ATP 250 EFG Swiss Open Gstaad. However, this first round does not award points, despite having obtained the victory. Likewise, in the Live ranking, he moves up four positions, going from 115th to 111th place.

Varillas had to go through the qualifying rounds, where he faced Russian tennis player Pavel Kotov (117 ATP) in the final round and defeated him with scores of 6-4 and 6-1. Before that, the bicolor racket defeated Italian Andrea Vavassori 2-0 (6-4 and 7-6).
