In order for the growth of a national team, it is important to have national football players playing for clubs in other countries, although there are occasions where leaving your nation does not represent a sports improvement, as there is usually an economic improvement. Under this context, the International Federation of Professional Footballers (FIFPro) issued a list of leagues that football players should not sign for, and some Peruvian players play in some of these leagues.

Every week, Peruvian fans pay attention to how Peruvian players are doing abroad, but for a long time now there haven't been any national references playing in the major leagues in Europe. To make matters worse, FIFPro revealed that players should not join clubs in Algeria, China, Greece (Second Division), Libya, Romania, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey.

While it is true that in most of these leagues there are no compatriots, there are multiple Peruvian players in one of them. It is the Saudi Arabian League, where Andre Carrillo (Al-Hilal) and Christian Cueva (Al-Fateh) play, not to mention that Christofer Gonzales is close to signing a contract with Al-Raed. As it is known, the three players are regulars in the Peruvian National Team.

On the other hand, Roberto Siucho, now named Xiao Tao Tao, is also in one of the mentioned countries. The forward is in China and it is a particular case because he changed his nationality with the hope of playing for the Asian national team; besides, he currently has no team and his last club was Kunshan F. C.

Why does FIFPro not recommend these leagues?

Football players should avoid these leagues due to "systematic and widespread contractual violations," which include non-payment of wages, according to journalist Juan Pablo Varsky.
