The Werder Bremen announced this Tuesday the farewell match of Claudio Pizarro, their all-time leading scorer with 153 goals, for September 24. The former captain of the national team will play for the 'Lagartos' and Bayern Munich, as well as a team of friends of the 'Bombardero' where the presence of some elements from Peruvian football is also expected.

Thus, 'Football Como Cancha' from RPP Noticias talked to Claudio Pizarro Dávila, father of the former striker, where in addition to the details of the farewell match of the remembered '14', he referred to the recent participation of the Peruvian National Team in the Qatar 2022 playoffs.

Pizarro Dávila was asked about Gianluca Lapadula and if his playing style can be similar to Claudio Pizarro's, however, he compared 'Bambino' with another former striker for the national team, Johan Fano.

"I don't see another one, honestly. Lapadula is a great player, for me he is the projection of Johan Fano. He is a player who plays with a lot of soul, life, and heart. He gives it his all, controls the ball well, and moves a lot," said Pizarro's father.

The Peruvian National Team lost to Australia on penalties and did not qualify for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. In the match, Gianluca Lapadula did not have any scoring opportunities in 120 minutes, something that Pizarro Dávila pointed out.

"For me, they left him alone up top and with players who could have made him passes... Australia had everything planned, they should have brought other people," he expressed.

Claudio Pizarro's father insisted that the Peruvian National Team should have defeated Australia, but he clarified that the team did not lack a leader, but the contribution of everyone.

"The penalty shootout is the result of not winning. I don't know if there was a lack of a leader or not. For me, that match should have been won by two or three goals over Australia. Here, there have to be eleven leaders and work under that role for Peru, and that didn't happen," he concluded.
