The penalty shootout started in favor of Peru, after Pedro Gallese saved Australia's first penalty, however, as time went by, the story changed, especially with Alex Valera's final shot.
And it was Universitario's forward who ended up being one of the most affected after the harsh defeat in Doha, Qatar, as he was the last one to kick and miss his penalty, sadly remaining in the final photograph of the Peruvian elimination.
However, this group of players showed unity in adversity and Carlos Zambrano was one of the first to approach the Universitario player and hug him amidst the sadness. Then, his other teammates would come closer to show their support in this difficult moment.
