Miguel Tudela and Sol Aguirre gave a huge joy to Peruvian sports this Sunday. The national representatives shone in the sea and were crowned champions at the Quiksilver/Roxy Iquique Surf Pro QS 3000, which took place this whole week at Cavancha Beach, located in Iquique, Chile.

The Peruvian was crowned by defeating Argentine José Gundesen in the final of the Men's Open, thanks to a score of 16.16 against his rival's 14.70. In the semifinals, Tudela defeated Brazilian Weslley Dantas; while in the quarterfinals, he eliminated Chilean Guillermo Satt.

"It was a spectacular week that ends with this title. I want to greet my people in my country. I am very happy to have been able to win this title," Tudela said about his success, in statements published by La Tercera newspaper.

"It was a spectacular tournament, Iquique is incredible and the organization is very good. The support of the government is always important for the development of our sport," Tudela added, who participated in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

"I am very grateful to be able to win. The place is incredible, the waves are very good, it has truly been a great week of competition in a very good surfing spot. I hope to return in another version of the tournament," commented Aguirre about her success.
