The national surf continues to demonstrate its prominence in the region. And on the twelfth day of competition at Santiago 2023, a Peruvian representative has just won the first medal of the day for the country. It is Vania Torres, who took the bronze medal in the Stand Up Paddle Surf modality for Peru at the Pan American Games. The athlete stepped onto the podium as a result of her performance. Also, in the Shortboard modality, Miguel Tudela also won another bronze.

In the early hours of the morning on Monday, October 30, Torres competed in the preliminary confrontation of the Female SUP Surf against the Colombian Isabella Gomez Brady. On this occasion, the scores were 6.33 and 3.67, respectively, allowing Vania the opportunity to win the bronze medal.

Later, in the Shortboard category, Miguel Tudela managed to secure the third position in a highly contested confrontation against his compatriot Lucca Mesinas. In this highly competitive duel, both surfers showcased their skills to the fullest, performing a variety of tricks and maneuvers in the water. However, it was the latter who came out victorious.

In this way, Mesinas will face the Venezuelan Francisco Bellorin in the fight for gold. This implies that, in the worst case scenario, Peru will secure at least one additional silver medal. The final is eagerly awaited, as Lucca is determined to win, leave a mark in history, and provide another joy to Peru.

How is Peru doing in Santiago 2023?
