Rob Van Dam, commonly abbreviated as RVD, became one of the most respected and beloved superstars of the company, having one of the most impactful moments in history when he fought against John Cena in a completely hostile environment for him.
However, a series of controversies, including the consumption of marijuana at a time when the company prohibited it, caused him to move away from WWE and have an interesting career in the independent circuit.
What happened to Rob Van Dam after WWE?
The first time he left WWE was in 2007. Since that year, he has toured the world in companies ranging from Europe to Mexico, such as AAA.
In 2010, however, he would be an active wrestler in TNA, a rival of WWE, where he became the World Heavyweight Champion and had rivalries against AJ Styles, Matt Hardy, or Tommy Dreamer.
In 2013, he returned to WWE for a series of rivalries against Chris Jericho and Alberto Del Río.
In 2015, he left the company again to go back to the independent circuit.
In 2019, however, when he returned to TNA, now called Impact Wrestling, he made an appearance in RAW Reunion. Two years later, in 2019, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2021.
While continuing in Impact, RVD has made headlines by living with two women, including his wife, also wrestler Katie Forbes.

RVD is a three-time World Champion, having won the ECW World Championship once, the WWE Championship once, and the TNA World Heavyweight Championship. He has also been a two-time ECW World Tag Team Champion, one-time ECW Television Champion, six-time WWF/E Intercontinental Champion, four-time WWF/E Hardcore Champion, one-time WWE European Champion, two-time WWE World Tag Team Champion, one-time WWE Tag Team Champion, and one-time TNA X Division Champion. Thanks to this, he is a Triple Crown Champion. He also won the Money in the Bank at WrestleMania 22.
