FIFA makes a severe change in negotiations: Relatives will not be allowed to receive commission.

The high amounts that arise in each international signing will be drastically reduced after the new measures that FIFA will use regarding commissions.

The season in European football is about to end in these months and the transfer market will start with greater force very soon, as is the case of Manchester City, who acquired the forward Erling Haaland for 60 million euros. However, a certain percentage was added to this impressive sum of money due to commissions.

Precisely, this type of commissions has been the subject of debate in FIFA, where it is believed that the high amount made in transfers is due to the commissions of agents and relatives who intervene in negotiations between the club and the player.

In response to this, as reported by EFE, the FIFA Council will establish new rules regarding commissions in today's football transfers. It is clear that this will generate relief for professional clubs, but obvious displeasure for agents and relatives.

FIFA intends to discuss this aspect between June and September 2022 so that its validity begins in July 2023.

"To sign a player or to sell him, they had to deal with an agent eager to make as much money as possible. But also with a father, mother, or cousin who, without an official license, also negotiated their share. It was always legal, but in a little over a year, the rules will change", reported EFE.

That being said, the commissions will only be for a single agent who has their official license. The amount to receive will be a maximum of 10 percent of the total transfer amount.

Obviously, one of the last transfers with high figures will be that of Kylian Mbappé, in which not only his agent is involved but also his relatives.

How much did Manchester City spend on Erling Haaland?

According to the daily Marca, the final amount for Erling Haaland reached an approximate figure of 350 million euros, with 80 going to Dortmund, 200 in wages for the player, 30 to the player's father for commissions, and 50 for the company representing him.

With the new rule that FIFA intends to impose, Manchester City would not have paid the 30 million euros to Haaland's father. Likewise, the amount for the representing company would have been lower.

When does the transfer market start in Europe?

In tournaments such as Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, and LaLiga Santander, the transfer deadlines are from July 1st to September 2nd. On the other hand, in the Premier League, the transfer market opens from May 17th to August 9th.
