Chilean Cristian Garin advanced to the round of 16 at the ATP Masters 1000 in Rome, after defeating Emil Ruusuvuori, but had an accident during the match.

The ATP Masters 1000 in Rome is underway and Chilean Cristian Garin (ATP: 45) was one of the protagonists in the round of 16. The South American tennis player not only stood out for his solid performance in the 2-0 victory over the Finnish Emil Ruusuvuori (ATP: 61), but also for a tough accident he was involved in.

After winning the first set 6-4, after 46 minutes of competition, the athlete representing Chile came out with the same aggressiveness in the second game. The mission was to maintain the rhythm and never gave up on a ball, which excited all the fans who enjoyed the event from the stands.

Thus, Cristian Garin achieved a 3-1 lead and was fighting tooth and nail (40-30) to get closer to victory. On the other hand, Emil Ruusuvuori was trying to close the gap and surprised with a drop shot that seemed to have a positive outcome, as his opponent was far away from the baseline to respond.

However, the Chilean tennis player did not give up, accelerated and managed to save the point in the first instance, although he could not stop and ended up crashing into the net, right in the area where there was an advertising barrier. Ruusuvuori returned the ball and won the point, but immediately approached to help his colleague.

Garin remained lying on the court for a few seconds and got up with the support of the Finnish athlete. Despite the noticeable pain from the blow, Cristian was able to continue, won the second set 6-4, and advanced to the round of 16 of the ATP Masters 1000 in Rome (his next opponent will be the winner of Marin Cilic vs. Cameron Norrie).
